How do I know if I the Dinan flash is still in effect?

May sound ridiculous! But I am very paranoid about taking the car to the dealer incase he flashes the car with the latest software and overwrites the Dinan flash I got.

Question: is this possible? How can I determine if I still have the dinan flash? (without taking it to a dyno..)

I have a feelin this is a but please let me know as all posts regarding this topic seem to be very confusing !

Thanks in advance
Skimo

Get a boost gauge and watch the boost levels.

If your butt dyno is so bad it can't detect a tune, you wasted your money IMHO. Anyhow a boost gauge can confirm or disprove your perception.

Boost gauge. Once you install it the first time you should be able to reinstall in 30 minutes.

You would want to take out the gauge before going to the dealer.

Just giving you guys a hard time. There is a very good chance that his tune is still there and he is just used to the power.

Can't you inform the dealer if they cant tell already that you have the flash and not to update with the new version?

Use a boost gauge, as already mentioned here . When you see 13+ psi ( Stage 2 ), you are good.

why not just go back to the dinan dealer? won't they reflash it for free since you've already bought it??

My dealer (Non-Dinan), called me and told me they would like to flash the car (for an ipod and brake light issue I was having), so that I could get it scheduled at my Dinan shop (Non-BMW Dealer) to get it reflashed..

+1 on the boost gauge though, anytime you mod a turbo car it's always a good idea.

Now that's good service...and the way it SHOULD HAPPEN, but, not many of us are that fortunate, I'm afraid.
