2a87, 2a98, & 3100 + Rod knock sound
So I just purchased a bmw with 101k miles, it is on stage 2+ mhd, and a stage 3 xhp tune. Car was driving relatively fine, but 4-5th gear can rev flare and the previous owner said it was faulty transmission solenoids, not to uncommon of an issue on these. Anyways I was driving, normal oil temps always kept under 250, and what can only be described as rod knock occurred, I got really scared and threw 91 in, I’m tuned on 93 but there was no 93 near me. Car ran fine with this rod knock sound but threw me into limp and started misfiring. I immediately pulled over and bought the license for mhd and retuned to a stage 1 91 tune, the car then got a flat tire without that tune being able to even adjust, pulled to the side and the misfire code went away but the 3 consistent codes I have been getting since then are 2a87 2a98 & 3100. Car said I needed a qt of oil so I obliged and let her run for about 35 minutes and that “rod knock” sound got progressively quieter, still slightly noticeable but much quieter, oil filter did not have any metal shavings from what I’ve seen and I still plan on dropping the oil and checking just to be sure. Any ideas would be extremely helpful, haven’t checked coils, injectors or spark plugs yet though.
