n52 oil catch can pics
sup e90 i installed a oil catch can to protect my brand new used rebuild disas rebuilt by e90william i think its been about 2yrs+ still working great thank you so much! waay waaayy better than viaco disas.
ive always noticed a shit ton of oil inside my 3 stage intake manifold. you can see the pics of it if you view my previous forum posts. i have to add a quart of oil every 450m no oil leaks it also burns oil in #5 and #6 cylinder currently has 210k miles on the motor so i recently had time to drain my oil catch can. this is the closed type and you have to unscrew off and was shocked at what i saw. Ive included some pics. some milky substance but i was amazed about how much oil this thing catch. has anybody else catch this much oil in there catch can? |

Sup guy its been over a year still burning oil and now i can confirm its not the ccv its the engine itself burning oil.
I just want to let the e90 community that this cheap oil catch can works. Removed the intake manifold to install an oem ccv from fcp euro. Still burns oil but the intake manifold was bone dry of oil. For me my next step is confirmed to replace engine. But for those trying to keep oil out of the intake manifold the oil catch can works. Here ismy intake manifold of 1+ year of running of running this cheap oil catch can. Not a drop of oil on the disa or inside of the intake mainfold. |

How long was it collecting all that before you opened it up? Also do you happen to remeber what brand you installed? I’ve seen different styles and have heard mixed reviews.

Glad to hear it's working. I would pick one that has 3/4" ports to prevent any flow restriction though. I'm using a BMS clone with 3/4" ports and baffles on the outlet, stuffed with a stainless steel scrubber. It even includes a bracket to mount to the strut brace:

Another alternative is Saikou Michi. I've been running one for years without issues. Just does what it says on the tin...

I just finished installing an eBay oil catch can on my 2011 328i. It looks identical to the pricey ones at the Indy shops. Used 4 feet of 3/4 hose and the fitting to the valve cover and then the one under intake. I just cleaned the intake and replaced disa valves in December and it was all covered in oil again.. not anymore!
