E90 N43 Timing Chains

Hi,

What is the average cost for the timing chains replacement?
The dealer said ~1500-2000 euros, the car has 170.000km and it's leaking some oil and it needs to be done asap.

should I go to a private mechanic instead? any suggestions?

The price in europe should be more or less as you said, maybe going to an indy you can get it done for 1000/1200
Can you turn wrenches? Seeing you have more cars that could be a fun project

Major job rare to be needed. Look at the additional items they can do while in their not that is needed but to consider things like water pump, eccentric, head gasket, radiator, valve cover (for the integrated PCV valve) etc...
