Hearing a high-pitched sound... is this normal engine sound or something off?
Please watch your ear: https://streamable.com/ekszbh
Hello, I am working on my car and above is the sound that's currently being made (replaced several gaskets, coolant hoses, air filter,). I started my car in awhile after replacing the parts and hearing this high-pitched sound, and i am having hard time identifying what the problem is. Worst thing is i don't even know if the noise was there prior to me changing all the problem the car came with. Just fyi, I don't see any 'Check Engine Light' either. Does anyone know if the sound of the engine is completely normal? Although it's facing OFH for random reasons, i don't think it's from there but it does sound like it's on the left side of the car. Edit: I found the car is using some LED bulb for the fog light (which I think it's broken now judging by how it blinks initially just to die), maybe that's the issue? I am changing it back to the regular Halogen bulb tomm but any confirmatino will be great if such can affect the sound. Just fyi, the bulb is sale for like only $6 each on Amazon so very nice deal! Oh someone said high pitched sound is usually air filter or sensor related.
I just checked and bottom of the air filter wasn't fully inserted in. Will fix tomm and will keep updated likely tomm. |

I hope it’s not this:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...ight=whistling Thats what it was for my 2011 328i. If it is for yours too, this is now a Vanos bolts recall item so run your vin at the BMW recall site. Last edited by Mike K; 12-21-2023 at 09:32 AM.. |

I hear tell that some n52 Vanos units were repaired under a 10 year warranty extension from BMW and that there would then be a green sticker inside the door jamb.
The PVC recall thing adds a fuse. I’d take care of that to avoid fire possibilities... |

Hello - just updating those who might come into same problem
My issue was either loosen oil filter and/or air filter. I took out both to replace and i guess i didn't put them in tight. For air filter, bottom was very loosely fitted/pushed in from an awakrd angle |
