Hi guys,

Car started misbehaving during holiday trips, was on the road most of the days. While driving on the highway (several times) the car started to lose power/stalling and check engine light would turn on. I wasn't accelerating, nor going in high speeds, the engine was quite warm already. After stopping and re-starting the car the check engine and the whole issue would go away. Last trip was ~250km without any problems

Any ideas what it might be? Seems random so maybe electronics? Misfire? Do you know if OBD would be able to show some more detailed errors?

You’ll need to scan for codes to start tracking down the problem.

The fact that the problem goes away with restart points towards electrical rather than mechanical, but there are too many possibilities to start throwing parts at the problem without a solid direction to go.

Thanks dmatre , I hooked up the OBD with INPA and got these error codes from DME:
DME 30DA NOXsensor, heating time
DME 2B08 Nitrogen oxide sensor, heating
DME 2F9E thermic oil level sensor
DME 29D1 misfirings, cylinder 5

I should probably first clear the errors and then try to reproduce the problem as some of these might have happened before.
Anyways - what do you think is the cause from this list ? There some other module errors in the logs but doesn't seem related to the issue.

Clear them and see what comes back. Cylinder 5 plug/coil would be first guess.

Where do I check it? Here's all I got..

I would swap coils 1 & 5 and see if the misfire moves with the coil.

Seems to be that most coil failures are 5 or 6, which run hotter because they’re behind the windshield, up under the cowl, and are subjected to higher temperatures.

If you're stalling on the highway, cylinder #5 wouldn't cause the whole engine to shut down.

If you can record fuel pressure, go back on the highway, and play the recording back after you stall.
