2A83 Vanos Intake/ Rough Idle Engine/ Poor acceleration
Hey all!
I need some help diagnosing this. E90 318i Petrol 180,000kms been getting an Check Engine and after scaned Rheingold 002A83. What I did: - Vanos Selenoids I cleaned and changed them and reset all adaptations trough INPA but after that Again the same error 2A83, - Vanos Sensors for Intake and Exhaust I changed and still the same error 2A83, - Timing Chain and Slave with new bolts has been changed, after that a car going fine without error 2 days, after that I have still the same error 2A83, The problem only appears when the car warms up to the more than 85*C and Engine is idling up and down when car are stopped on neutral gear. below are the Vanos values at idle, Let me know what you think. https://nfhost.me/image/camshaft-adaption.L0stS https://nfhost.me/image/camshaft-position.L0VBq Last edited by grzesiek1035; 04-14-2019 at 11:22 AM.. |

I founded few solutions:
For maximum correct result: a) check the positions of camshafts, using special tools; b) replace the rings of the sensor (it can be magnetized – also this obstacle generates extra error messages); c) replace the VANOS sensor. replace the VANOS sensor. - Means Selenoids? or Camshaft position sensor? |

Im having same issue and its also itermittent, comes back after 2-40 days also i recently got new fault code (disa valve failure) im chasing this issue for entire year myself and legit read every forum there is about it multiple times. You can try looking check valves, replacing oil filter housing (the spring inside might be shot) ultimately if not timing chain it might be bearing ledge.

Do you figurate out what was your problem? My E90 N46b20 do the same thing. Only when the engine start to warm up about 80-90 celsius. |

I had 2A82 which was the intake side compared to exhaust but my symptoms were similar, and I would get the code definitely more as the oil was getting warmer and warmer. At operating temp, I could always trigger the code by moving from a red light for example and just driving smoothly. Or if I went WOT from a dig. If I went off the light quickly but not WOT, code didn't really trigger. Basically what happens is when your engine does variable valve timing, since the oil is warm it's able to get past the groove that is dug in the bearing ledge and not enough pressure in the VANOS system. After replacing my intake camshaft bearing ledge tray, my issue was resolved and never got 2A82 again. |
