Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help? I’ve started to re-pin my ULF1/ULF-SBX to combox thinking for some reason it was the same as all of the pinout guides but I almost immediately hit the snag of “missing wires”. Problem is, I now have no idea what the original pinout is nor do I know what pinout to use for a combox.

Does anyhow happen to have a colour coded ULF1 to combox pinout guide, please?

I did a similar retrofit - the pinouts in my DIY should work for you, too.

Thanks mate, I appreciate it. I've just had a little look and my pinout is still different unfortunately.

Here are the details of my car and specifically the module and wires.

2005 e90 325i
ULF part number - 9123290
Wires (size):
- Red/Yellow (thick)
- Brown (thick)
- Black (medium)
- Black (thin)
- Yellow (thin)
- Blue/Black (thin)
- White/Black (thin)
- Light Blue? (thin)

UPDATE: I’ve managed to put everything back into the original ULF harness. Now all I need to do is find the correct pinout for a COMBOX telematics conversion. Does anyone have one for the ULF1 by any chance?

Ah! You have a ULF not MULF, got it. We never got the ULF over here as bluetooth was bundled with Assist TCU or with the MULF/Combox.

What’s the last 7 of your VIN? I can spin up ISTA and see what the pinouts correspond to.

to put a Mulf 2 hi or a combox in a 2005 will require some tricky programming as niether module was released in the that year. In order to update the software to a combox you will have to trick it to think it's production model year is one in which that particular module was released.

Thanks mate. I can close this thread now as I did the changeover yesterday and it’s working a charm. I just used newtis for get the pinout for both modules and swapped over what was needed etc. I’ll also tap into the can lines and give the combox can over the next coming days

Thanks mate I wish I would have seen this sooner haha. Ended up using newtis to get the pinouts for both modules and swapping everything over according to them. It’s working so that’s a plus 😂

I thought the tis was shut down by BMW unless you payed for it.
Did you pay for it ?
