I have a different issue but may as well pile on where the expertise lies. In the last day or so my E93 has needed a second press on the button to latch the header, otherwise it would just pause with no sign of mechanical activity. Today it wouldn't latch at all. I let it sit for a bit and then it latched. Ideas?

Solved it, it was the microswitch that is in the receiver on the left side of the windshield header. The spring on the switch had fallen off/broken and so the system wasn't receiving any data on when the roof prongs had entered the receiver, hence the slamming with no latching.
This video was super helpful, I just have a few notes:

My wifes e93 top got stuck while closing a few months back. i managed to close it manually, gently, and got it home. the error code was about the fogging sensor. i replaced the fogging sensor and now get a green light when operating the roof opening button, but no action from the top and yet no error codes. any ideas? any way to reset the roof system? thank you!!

Top opening. Overlooking the obvious.
Per NasVegas. This happened to me after storing my e93 and carelessly placing the manual! Thanks for your post.
The other thing -- make sure your owners manual isn't in the left or right side of your trunk area. It'll cause this same symptom (and annoying dents to the top C pillars and roof). |

Cowl latches not detected as locked
Hi everyone,
I'm having a similar problem. Roof was open, when I attempted to close, nothing moved. I could hear the cowl latches release, but the rear module would not raise. When I attempt to re-lock, I can hear the cowl latches moving, but ISTA tells me they aren't being detected as locked. So now I can't close, or completely open (latch) my roof. I have since had the module raised using the method shown on YouTube from Top Hydraulics, but I can't seem to find the issue. I'm thinking my next step will be to manually close the roof and see what happens. Any ideas? |

Have you resolved it? Similar issue here. When opening, cowl latches release, rear module latches release but it does not raise. No more action from here. I attempt to close and everything latches back. It's like the motor doesn't know it needs to enable the pistons for the next step to happen. Possible bad microswitch? Which microswitch may be the problem?
Thanks! |
