N54 used oil cooler? Flush it?
Hey everyone, I bought a used oil cooler to retrofit onto my N54, I was just curious if it would be possible to flush the cooler before I install it onto the car? Or should I buy a new aftermarket cooler?
I am just really worried I install this and the car swallows a bunch of shavings or debris. I bought it from a guy who was going to install it onto his car but ended up not doing it. So I have no idea what is in the cooler Any help is appreciated |

Chances are youre probably fine--people install used coolers all the time. But I'd sure feel like an idiot if I cost myself $10k for a new engine, etc. because I didn't spend the extra $100 to just get something I know hasn't had shavings run throuhg it. |

- Burger Motorsports sells a decently cheap one with lines and everything included
- Mishimoto makes a nice one for just a little more, factory location but a little more surface area - ER Competition is probably the best. Bimmerworld has the best price on that one but it's more than twice the others There's a few others too like Stett, Mosselman, etc. Any of them should do the trick ![]() |
