If my car is coded for a 90ah battery and i put a 80ah battery will the system overcharge the battery?

Ive been having over voltage issues with the car i swapped the vr, battery alternator, inspected junction box and fuzes and still no fix until i noticed that the car was running as if it had a 90ah battery so i recoded it to 80ah and registered the battery so im hoping that solves my over voltage issues

Voltage issues aren't going to be related to a 10AH rating deficit in your battery. A 90AH battery doesn't require higher voltage, it would require higher amperage to be fully charged.

It highly likely you have a different issue with something on the BSD bus, or something with the alternator/voltage regulator quality.

How can i trst the bsd bus? My alternator and voltage regulator are new from fcp so i high doubt that would be my issue

Unplug the BSD bus wire (that small single wire that clips in on the back) and run the car, you will get a code for alternator missing, but that eliminates any noise or instructions from the car going to the alternator or voltage regulator and it goes into a default voltage mode.

Looks like the blue bsd wire is torn from where it connects to the socket might be my issue

yeah maybe its making false contact and causing those voltage spikes... keep us posted.

anyway for know keep it unplugged and see if the voltages are more stable.

I had it unplugged and i noticed the voltage spikes stopped and my votage was consistently at 13.6 city driving and when i plugged it in i started getting the spikes again so i ordered a brand new ibs sensor and the bus cables wheel see if that solves it for good ill keep you posted thanks alot man
