Mine may be original but the drivers side needs a little help to come out. I do have a new one and am procrastinating on installing it. Besides, who has a drink in the car when you have a manual transmission...

2009 E91(original owner): factory cup holder, works like a charm
I open and close it few times a week for past 14 years 2011 E90(4th owner): factory cup holder, slow to open. I open and close it twice a week for past 4 years.
