Tree Sap Removal

Quick question for the detailers - I have lately found some tree sap which unfortunately made its way just above the door handle of the front passenger side. Thing is, I'm not sure how long its been on there, but it was a lot of sap and its probably been baked in due to the sun.

I searched on the forums and it seems as though isopropyl (rubbing?) alcohol is recommended - is that true - ok for the paint? Additionally, this seems to be recommended if you catch the sap early - I didn't, any recommendations on what I should do now?

I already tried a claybar, I got off some of the sap marks on the front (which I found when I washed), but it did next to nothing for the sap on the passenger side.

I was able to get lots of tree sap off my car using "Bug and Tar Remover", although on mine the sap wasn't baked on yet.

The remover comes in a yellow can and you should be able to find it in any decent auto parts store.

Make sure you rinse off the car well after application since the stuff is probably not the best to have on your car long term.

I got it off using petrol on a clean cloth.

Yes, IPA works great. After you use it, just re-wax or seal the spot where you used it. It does not harm the paint, but it will take off your existing sealant. You can use IPA even for sap that has hardened.
