Scratch removal

So, what's the technique? Wet sand? Old fashioned rubbing compound? Wool pads/glaze?

I tried some rubbing compound today, did OK, but now my fingers won't bend I couldn't tell whether it's better to rub across the sratch, or down it, but it started to seem like rubbing along the valley made it disappear sooner. Going across seemed to end up with a nicely rounded edge, but still plenty of visible imperfection.

I found that even after rubbing for a while, it was very easy to get the Flex with orange/PG and take care of those mini scratches left over with ease.

I do both but the majority of strokes are "with the valley" as you say i.e. parallel with the scratch.
