From my experience, winter tires are a lot better then all seasons (especially the Hakka Q's which are amazing). I have been in situation where the all seasons cannot get my out, despite of any driving skills. Such a situation has never occurred for me with snow tires. As for wearing them out, I don't like the feel they have on dry road so I usually swap em out as soon as the warm season starts.

As for 328i's suggestion of needing the two sets in Europe, he is right, but I doubt you are going to bring your car/wheels back with you to Finland if you ever decide to go back, eh?
I am definitely taking the car to Finland with me if and when I go back. That was half of the point of buying a car from US, it was less than half the price it would have been in Finland! So I will be buying winter tires from here before I go. Was just thinking that if I don't need them here, I would just buy them before I move and not wear them out here. The same Blizzaks I get for $550 here are about $1200 in Finland... I guess I will just get them now and use them for the winter.

Nokia is a small city in central Finland, and just happens to be the birth place of this old company that has been then split up into multiple other companies that make everything from tires to rubber boots to mobile phones. They just have kept the "Nokia" in their name. I have worked for Nokia myself a couple of years back, in the factory where they make their most expensive mobile phones.

Interesting tidbit about Nokia; I just learned something new today

As for bringing the car to Finland...that is pretty amazing and makes a lot of sense (otherwise you would have leased probably). I did not know it could be economically done (emissions, speedometer, etc technical stuff, shipping costs) but I guess cars must cost a lot more in Finland because of taxes, etc. And yeah definitely get the tires here; I would just get two sets if you wear out the first one (or sell em before you leave and get a new set).

Getting a "tax free" car is one of the biggest reasons why Finnish people move out from the country for a year. My brother did the same thing couple of years ago, he was in the UN troops in Kosovo and came home with an Audi A3 TDI.

It is also part of my contract - the company will pay for the cargo when I move back to Finland. So my job is just to pay the customs fees and take care of the paper work, which isn't even that bad because it is so normal in Finland that people move back there with a car. There shouldn't be too much trouble getting the car through inspection, speedometers and things like that don't make a difference besides the 335 has both miles and km's in there anyway. The only problem I know that I could have with 335 is the headlights - in Finland the orange lights in the corners should only be on when the turning signal is on.

That tree should have been more responsible while it grew up.
