I almost feel like its worth too much time and trouble to fix for such a small section. I'm not even sure if I plan on keeping the car at end of my lease. I plan on going to another dealership tomorrow to get a second opinion to see if they can just replace that one section without destroying the whole door.

I believe they have to replace the entire door since it is a one piece. I had to have mine replaced when they tint shop put a small cut into the leather door handle. Don't ask me how they did that but it happened. They had to order a new door panel that cost them $800.

I hope BMW hears this and produce better quality finishing and avoids this kind of problem for 335 and future production. |

My friend's 1998 VW Passat had the same problem with the door material, in an otherwise fabulous interior. One would believe a 2006 BMW doesn't have this problem!

...hmmm not very pleasant to hear a car of this 'quality' has this type of problem. Anyone know if this has been fixed for future builds? It happes that materials need some real world exposure to get an idea of the wearability.. ~Frost |

I have the same problem with my driver door handle. I took in to the dealer yesterday. They told me that they have to replace the entire door panel.
The parts are on order and should arrive tomorrow. I took some pics to show you guys. I'll post them as soon as I download them from the camera. It's not something you would expect but the dealership was very good about it. |

E46's were notorious for having the same thing happen on the center console underneath the hand brake. My VW Jetta had the same think happen on the door handles as well. Must be a german supplier problem .

I have it on a euro car with a grey interior, and it looks terrible.
Clearly this is a faulty coating process issue. I was shocked to see it and will be mentioning it at my upcoming service. |
