Do I need 2 snow cables or 4?
Basic info:
'08 335 (non-xi) e92 sport package 225/45/17 ContiWinterSport TS810's I'm headed Portland way in a couple of weeks for work. I'm getting snow cables for the car for just in case on the way out and for when I go up to Mt. Hood or something like that. I know for sure I'll need cables on the back wheels (if it comes to needing cables). Rear wheels are the go wheels after all. My question is about the fronts? I have a very vivid memory of a Toyota Previa last time I was out there, It was coming down the mountain with chains on the rears. Their front wheels were locked and the rears just kept spinning. I'm guessing they didn't have enough brake back there to slow the car. Since it couldn't stop or steer, it bobsleded down the road for a few hundred yards using a snow bank as a guide. Should I cable all 4 corners? Will the rear brakes be enough to stop me if the fronts can't get grip? I don't want to end up like the Previa! |
