It was really easy. I missed one in the beginning though lol
How do you stop over slippery roads? I said clutch in and coast to a stop, when the answer was use both brakes to slow down. |

Ok...so you've started shopping already? My friend is itching to buy a bike as soon as the learner's permit reaches his hand

If I do get one, I might just suck it up and go for a brand new 250R. I don't think I'll need more power, it's not like I'll go on the highway with it. |

Haha, David, you say that now when you haven't ridden yet. But let's wait and see after you ride around on a 250 for a few days. You'll immediately want more power. Shit, with a 250, you might as well ride on a vespa. You definitely don't want to buy a brand new 250, it'll be a waste of money.

David, some good decent mileage Suzuki Katana 600s in the classifieds, right at 3k-ish. Should be a decent starter bike...
I agree with Truong, 250 seems kinda girlie

Please go take the MSF course. It will be well worth your time... Once you master the 250cc bikes in that course, any 600cc sport bike will be PLENTY of get up and go for you... The cruiser I share with my dad is a 750cc, and it still has plenty of juice.... |

R6 is real nice David. It'll be more than enough to get your 135 lb frame going 0-60 in under 4 secs. haha David- I thought your alter ego is Orangesqueezer. Or is that only on Tuesday nights? And I agree with AJ, the most valuable thing any of you guys can do is take the MSF course. It helps so much; it teaches you laws, it teaches you what to wear, how to ride, and it can even clear your acne! All for only 6 easy payments of $40 dollars. But if you call now, we'll make your first payment for you!!!! leaving you only 5 super-easy payments of $40 dollars!! Operators are standing by. |

Yep, we are seriously planning for the MSF course...we know thats the only way to go. I think Shim is keep an eye out for availability.
Do you guys have any good used sport bike recommendations? Something not too heavy, not too uncomfortable, reliable and easy to use yet looks kick ass? Been seeing alot of low-mileage 4-5 yr old Katana 600s, How are those?

The R6 was what I was considering and still am. I think it's one of the lighter 600s and it looks sick (IMO). |

Honda CBR 600 or Kawasaki Ninja 600 (do not get the RR) (this was my first bike) or Yamaha YZF 600 IMO... suzukis are a bit too aggresive and they kill your back.

If you want to learn how to drive a motorcycle. Dean, edspilot, is an official trainer for a local community college Motorcycle Driver Safety Class. He does class and hands-on training using smaller motorcycle. You may want to PM him. I've got his cell and email address if you are really interested , if he doesnt respond to PMs. Hope it helps.
