Tune Detection

Hey all,

I was reading about the different tunes and have read that some people indicate SSTT is not detectable by the service department if it is removed. How is this different from JB or Vishnu or any tune? Does it have to do with the amount of boost? Is it easier or less invasive to install? Thanks in advance for the help!

the SSTT can be swapped in and out in a matter or seconds.... the deal is that is not in the ecu box, but down on the side of the block. nothing needs to be removed or pushed aside to get to it... i love mine, would recommend it to anyone

My JB2H was not detected I now have JB3 (the undetectable version) but I haven't tried it yet.

some tunes with more low end tq trigger a fault in the ECU that can be read by the computers at the dealership

this is basically a red flag to LOOK FOR MODS (software mostly) and if they wanted to they could deny to do certain warranty work

the v3 and jb3 would be undetectable as well the SSTT boosts less and takes less control over your car basically

FWIW, a SSTT is more likely to closer to the tuner code trigger point than either the v3 or jb3, both of which raise fuel pressure to achieve within-spec fuel trims. The SSTT does not adjust fuel pressure.

So Shiv, are you saying the JB3 is more liklely to trigger a detectable fault?

Not at all. I'm just trying to make the point that a conservative tune like the SSTT is NOT less likely to trip the tune code than a v3 or jb3. The latter can run more boost because of the fuel pressure adjustments they induce. The SSTT could very well be closer to the threshold than either of them. You wont know until you monitor fuel trims with a OBD2 tool.

where did u get that from his post?? I got the complete opposite. Shiv said that both the V3 and JB3 are "less" likely to throw a code compared to the SSTT

I think everyone is just waiting for a tuner to automatically talk trash about one another

I just read your PM, sorry for the late response, but Shive basically summed everything up

Ok, I see shiv, thanks for the info! I wasn't trying to start a v3-jb3 thing here. I basically consider both in the same category and very comparable, quality products.

Is the reason the SSTT may be closer to that threshold due to the fact that it tricks the ECU into thinking it's warmer out, thus upping the boost a bit and perhaps mess with the Air:Fuel ratio since it's actually colder out (denser air) than it thinks it is? Or does the car automatically add fuel for that extra boost as well...?

Talking

I brought my 335i to my dealer' assistance twice, both times with the V3 plugged in, the second time with catless downpipes installed as well, they never detect anything
