that sucks man! was this your first ticket for tint or did you have a history of tint violations that the officer may have accessed in the database?

CA law is no tint on windshield and forward driver/passenger door windows.

I always roll down the windows when I see a cop nearby even if it's cold. I've got 15% all around on a White car which makes it look even darker.

anybody know what exactly happens if you get an illegal operation ticket anyways?
I really want to keep my tints but afraid of what will happen if I got pulled over again? And my windows were down when he got me he asked me to roll em up

Doesn't work, He'll know from your rear. I got pulled over and he told me to roll up my windows and stuck this tint %age identifier machine and it ended up saying 11 when the tint store's receipt says 20. gave me a warning nodded my head and drove off...Oh well.

I don't know that he can legally have you roll them up...but it is too late now obviously. Not sure what the fines or implications of an illegal operation ticket might be, but I'd remove the tints and wait until your record clears.

in NH they are illegal also and some cops could care less if you had them but other had like a personal mission to bust people with tints. After like a year with no problems I got a ticket but didn't take them off. The second time I got pulled for them (like a month later) the cops wanted to rip my inspection sticker off the car and have it towed!!! I comprimised with him that I would take them off the next morning and then drive to the police station to show him that they were off, he still gave me a ticket though...

I'd comply with the law, reading your sig the Tint is only one of a few things the cop could have hassled you for. With the increase in traffic cams that take photos front plate and tint violation will be more common.
