320D Oil Change

Hi

I'm in the process of doing a post break in oil change (6000 miles) and was hoping someone might be able to help me with a query.

I am wondering whether I should insert the filter into the filter cap before screwing the cap back down or whether I should locate the filter into the engine before screwing the cap down. I'm a bit concerned as there is a small extrusion (as you can see on the picture) on the underside of the filter and I can only be sure of locating this in its 'hole' by putting it in the engine before screwing the cap down... but then I'm not sure if the filter has 'clicked' properly into the cap.

Any thoughts would be gratefully recieved.

Regards

Chris
