LSD for '08 E92...
Anyone out there know whether the "Super Lock" LSD from OS Giken is worth the $$? It's about $2K less than the Turner/Drexler unit ($1800 vs $3700), which makes it attractive from a price standpoint. Is the Turner unit that much better?
Also, I'm curious whether there are any issues with installation or performance on a car w/steptronic trans. Thanks! |

you just need to install the quaife LSD if you have a 08 AT tranny, contact Harold!

On a special note the OS Giken and the Turner/Drexler unit are both clutch disc style of LSD where as the Quaife is an automatic torque biasing LSD or more commonly called a Torsen style LSD that has no clutch plates and uses gears to control slip. Disadvantage of Torsen type of diffs is they can become "open" diffs (single wheeling) when a rear wheel leaves the ground or the load on one wheel is suddenly reduced and the other has all the load.
Generally clutch disc style of diffs will require more maintenance with clutch pack wear replacement over time and oil changes because they run much hotter - used more so for racing applications where torque slip can be adjusted to suit the car. Quaifes are more fit and forget. No adjustments required and more suited for road /race applications. Choose your weapon..... ![]() |

It's so unfair how much more expensive it is with a welded diff =( wish there was a better solution... *sigh*

Quaife is still new, but build from a low mileage core instead of a brand new BMW unit. |
