Did this last night and this morning the pug was back in. I do have a slight hole in one of the welds (will get fixed when I install the Dimisa tips) but I just found the car sounded like a Corsa.
To say that once the car is warmed up the flap stays open is I'm afraid rubbish. I suggest you drive behind your car sometime and see where the exhaust fumes come from most of the time. The flap opens up at start up and then shuts again, then once the revs rise the flap does open. If you can't get to drive behind your car then just notice how much dirtier the right pipe is when you wash the car, it's open all the time where as the left one is only part time |

The flap is there for a few reasons...
1) Warm the cats up a bit quicker 2) Increase back pressure at low revs to improve economy 3) Reduce exhaust noise for the EU numb nutts The flap opens and closed at different times depending on throttle position and revs. It doesn't stay open all the time once the engine is warmed up, this was the same on all my previous cars... my Porsche 996 with PSE, my B6 Audi S4 (before I fitted Millteks), 535d and now on our 130i. I recently put the vacuum tube back on the 130 as it does make motorway speeds slightly more noisy, but my wife has said "why is my car so quiet... put it back to being loud!" [good girl!] Now... I don't own a 335i... so I'm not going to make a bold statement and say it's the same.... BUT ! |

when u look down the pipes of the dxb does she have a flap? if it doesnt it might explain why the mufflers have a diff part number to the 335i then? IIRC on mine b4 i zip-tied it you could defnitely hear a metallic clunk when it warmed up and it the flaps opened |
