Oil change indicated 20000 miles from now

When I picked my car up (2007 335i) the oil change was due in 15000 miles according to the numbers when you start the car. That number counted down and I remember it being 13000 miles. Then I noticed it was 22000 miles recently and is now 20000 miles. I still assume this is mileage until next service interval, but why did it go up?

My car has 5300 miles on it and I have not had any service done to it. Any ideas if I have the wrong thing being display (if I even changed it) and why it would be so high?

first change is suppose to be at 12,000 miles. unless you have a ///M then you have to bring it in for a engine check at 1200. miles. when my friend told me he failed to tell me only for ///M models. so i took my car to the dealer and they told me that regular bmw oil change and service is at 12000 miles.

Did you happen to try resetting your service lights at all? I know when I had my brake pad warnings come up I tried resetting it but ended up resetting the oil chang indicator instead.

exactly the same problem happened to me...

if you double check you will see the year of the 20,000 service and brake fluid change has incremented an additional year.

i watched my car from new at 15k mile for first oil change. spool down to 11k... i hit the update button in the nav system and next thing i know instead of it showing 4/2008 11k for oil change it shows 22k and 4/2009... same as brake fluid 4/2009.

called the dealer and chump service guy said not to worry the car will tell me when it needs service. and that i didnt need to have an oil change performed at 1500 miles. pissed off i was about to call the local dealer and schedule an appointment... when desimone called back with another advisor and he said he's seen it a couple of times and cant explain it, but yes its wrong.

I went in for service for a few things and wanted to get this fixed... turns out they *cough* fixed it... it now says 15k for first oil change instead of 22k... however the year is still messed up for brake and engine oil change 4/2009.

dunno about you but for me, im at 4k and will pay for an oil change at 6-7k then get my low mile change at 4/2008 (figuring around 9k miles) then another oil change around 15k for free. so getting the oil change setting reset back to 15k was a good idea.

btw guys the rattle is @#@(*#($# gone... perhaps its the temperature change. and bmw still doesnt have a fix for the tech's car that has the rattle too (puma case).

ppp

p.s. honeymoon in fl WDW in 21 days... cant wait to get out of work and take a deserved break !

guess who just checked my car...

well its now at 25,000 miles 4/2009 for first oil change !?!?!?!?!

called dealer and he said other cars were having wierd problems such as the breaks saying 455,000 miles etc and the computer problem we experienced. he suspects software update... uh duh but no fix just yet.

im going to request a complimentary oil change around 9/2008 or so due to this bug.

Same problem here. Started at 15000, went down to 12000 and one morning it was at 21000. I dont have I drive. Brought it in at 6700 miles and they supposedly fixed it. Told me to drive about 150 miles and it would correct itself. 1700 miles later was still at 21000. Took it back for the 1 year service when I had 8200 miles. They reset it this time and it read 9000 to next service. A day later it dropped to 8000 where it is now. I guess they fixed it this time

Has anyone had this issue fixed? It has been 4 months since I got an oil change done on my car and I have driven 3,250 miles since the oil change. Right after the oil change it showed 16,000 miles to next oil change and now the indicator shows 22,000 miles.

Any suggestions?
