We have found the best way is remove the piping. Then spray, and wipe down with simple green. Run some compressed air through to pick up any left over debris. Let it dry, and reinstall.

sure it does. depending on the level of oil in the IC you'll have one or more rows thru which there is no more airflow, thus less cooling and more restriction. And while cornering it might be worse as the oil level will build up in a corner, closing of more rows. Let alone what the oil does to valves etc

Back in my Turbo days I would use Gas to clean my IC and it worked great just beware of open flames. If any excess gets in your intake you wont hurt anything.

the buildup of oil is so minimal and would only affect the bottom rows of the IC which may or may not be block by air dam and fender. i really dont think it would build up to level of obstruction.

I don't quite agree, certainly not on turbocharged engines. I've disconnected my breather since 5kmls from new, and did find an oil coated air intake. You only need a badly functioning airfilter. That could be due to a piece of plastic, or large leave you unfortunately sucked in, or whatever. If the air filter restriction goes up, then the system starts sucking oil vapour out of the engine. In the IC that wil condens and stay there.
