Is your phone a known compatible one? (is on a BMW list somewhere)

The voice system saves your phone book in your car not in the phone. You have to enter your phone book via voice command. "Save Name" - say the name, say the number, then say "save number". Like this: "Save Name" - George, Say the Number 424-555-5555, then say "save number". The instructions are wrong. If you save your phone book on your phone to the Phone's SIM card, and save the name in the SIM card, the car may use your phone's phone book that way. I haven't tried it that way yet.

Garage List
2008 M5  [0.00]

I guess one of the shortcomings of the Treo 650 is somewhat of an advantage. My contacts list (400+ names) doesn't download to the car via Bluetooth, it downloads my speed dial numbers instead (about 40-50 numbers possible).

I can voice dial any of the numbers in speed dial without having to program them into the car.

There are two different systems, and it depends if you have CCC or M-ASK. Cars with CCC have full speech recognition, i.e. no training of the system is required. These cars have hundreds of commands available plus the ability to use speech recognition to dial names in the phone book (that´s the no training part). Cars with M-ASK have very limited voice recognition and each number must be saved if you want to dial using voice.
