Is the dot matrix strip thinner on an e90? I would think it would look like an outline around the windows if they didn't tint this portion at all. Does anyone have pictures?

I called Wheel Dynamix they were aware of the problem and said they had their own solutions but could not grantee anything. Plus they didn't seem all that interested in removing and reinstalling tint. I may go see them at the end of the month.

Best place for tint work in the area...
Mike's Signs off of School St. in Lowell, MA. is by far anyones best bet for a place to get tint done. I don't know why he isn't advertised or referred to more often but he certainly should be! (probably because of his small/hidden shop). I've been going to Mike for years. He's done my Pathfinder, Audi A4, and just yesterday did my brand new E92 335xi and it came out Mint! Especially because of the the dot matrix issues that everyone is having, he took extra time to meticulously work on the rear window dot matrix area so that the tint would blend right in and he succeeded for sure. Its barely noticable now and the tint still hasn't fully cured yet. He is a very nice guy and will get you in as soon as he possibly can. In addition, his prices are very reasonable considering the work he does..He only charged me $180 for the entire job on my 335 coupe. So if anyones having trouble with other local tint places, this is definitley your best option. I'm very new to this forum so I'm still learning the tools but i'll try getting pics. up asap.

Can you put up some pictures? This dot matrix thing is getting me worried. My cousin got his Accord tinted at Tint King, and it came out beautiful. I have another question for you guys with tint. Does it make it difficult to see in the back at night in the rear view w/ the auto dimming and the tinted windows? |

Tint will not stick to the Dot Matrix 95% of the time. The only option is to sand down the dots, then tint over it....but you run the risk of damaging the rear defog. One of the best looking options is to tint up to the do matrix, tape it off, and cover your seats and interior with plastic and hit the 4-6" section of dot matrix with flat black spray paint. It will look great from the outside, yet, you will lose 4" or so of visibility. You can use any flat black spray paint. I'm doing my wifes 335 and my Firehawk soon.....all cars have this problem with tint.

It is pretty ugly if you look from the outside. You can see dried glue between the dots.

Get some black vinyl to cover it up and have the tint shop tint over the black vinyl. That's the only way that it'll come out looking nice.

I'd love to see some pics of a solution to this too. When I got my 335i I had the dealer remove the tint before I took delivery. It was a naaaasty job, not only around the dot matrix on the rear and rear side windows, but also around the rear heating elements. I'd like to have some light tint on the rear and rear sides, but if this is something I would have to accept, I will go without - I'm too anal
