Cool Help On RR OCC Install

so i took the plunge and ordered the occ today, will be heading your way alex for the install .

i read in another occ thread that the braket is just stainless steel and rusts. will regular spraypaint prevent the rusting?

if i use the plastic zip tie things on the end of the tubings, will they melt? if i use plumbers tape on the hoses for extra seal, will they melt from the engine bay heat as well?

much appreciated. thanks.

Let me know when it comes in and we'll get it installed for ya!

Did u order the Black or Silver catch can. I ordered the black one a few months back and all the brackets were coated in black, so no rusting. If you ordered the Silver can and the brackets aren't coated, i'll coat them up for you when you come by. Plumbers tape i don't think is necessary as long as everything is tight and the rubber washers are in place. If you feel more comfortable with it, i'll put some on for u. Also, the hose clamps provided by Riss would def be better than the zip ties too.

PM me if u have any other questions

Ill assume by "plumber's tape" you mean teflon tape. If so it depends on the grade but the most typical stuff you will find is PTFE, at 621°F.

I try to avoid using tape anywhere I feel it may break loose and clog. I would try a non hardening sealant if you are worried, like permatex aviation stuff.
