Dinan or Procede Software?
Someone please help me, which one would you get?
I am leaning a little more towards Dinan since BMW will still let you have your warranty, but from what I have seen on this forum, it seems like the Procede is better combined with other modifications. Thank You. ![]() |

BMW does not support, encourage, condone, warranty, guarantee, bless, or recommend Dinan products. To BMW, Dinan is just as bad as any other aftermarket tuner. |

To the OP, do you own or lease your car? If you are leasing (and intend to turn it back at the end of the lease) it is difficult to justify the expense of the Dinan flash, especially because you cannot part it out after. The only caveat on this is installing the PROcede will void your warranty if it damages your engine (it will probably also breach your lease agreement). You will have to accept this risk or be prepared to conceal your use of the device by removing it before getting your car serviced. Some people aren't comfortable doing this. Also if you plan on adding other non-Dinan performance parts such as catless downpipes, different intakes etc. the Dinan is less than ideal since it is not tuned to run specifically with anything other than Dinan parts. There is furthermore a steep upgrade price for Dinan parts but they are good parts. I am speaking specifically about the intercooler and oil cooler. If you own your car, plan to keep it and are squishy about being compelled to commit warranty fraud, then Dinan is a good choice. It has smooth great power and brings some more things to the table such as increasing the water pump speed to help cool the engine. Dinan's credo is performance without sacrifice and this is the theme I am trying to build my car around since I plan on keeping it for a while. There are great technical articles for you to read on the Dinan site if you wish to further inform youself. My major criticism of the PROcede is that Shiv's main competitor has forced him into a battle where it seems that the main considerations are dyno results and 1/4 mile race times. There is less concern it seems about the short and long term consequences of running high boost at high revs, lean A/F mixtures and the like or as much worry about the occaisional limp mode. That being said, and warranty issues aside, Shiv has made remarkable improvements to his product to the point where it has gone from something I would never consider to something that I definitely would. Also keep in mind that you don't have to run foaming-at-the-mouth boost levels if you don't want to. You can adjust the settings to run within the parameters you are comfortable with. To me, the PROcede's adjustabilty and flexibility is its best feature. All in all I am very happy with my Dinan tune and how it performs and will soon be upgrading to stage 3. I am not happy with how much it's costing me. Such is the price of an expensive addiction. However, to me, having a reasonably 'safe' 400 hp 420 tq in a balanced ride is what is truly priceless. And its the licking you can lay on other shocked rides out there that matters the most to me not how I stack up against my fellow 335 owners. Good luck with your decision. ![]()

Suggesting that a PROcede'd car would show a Dinan Flashed car it's taillights is pretty fair. Saying that the PROcede car would inevitably go into limp mode is ridiculous. And saying that the PROcede was developed with 1/4 mile/dyno queen status in mind is also a bit silly. 90% of all the development it has seen has been for the stuff that is NOT tested on the dyno/strip.

![]() I wasn't trying to put down your product. I said that comments such as those were not helpful. But since you had to throw in the taillight comment, let me just say that you can't hide from your limp mode past. A simple e90post thread search can be quite revealing. There are 164 threads with "limp" in the title. Of these, 46 can be eliminated as not reporting a limp mode (asking a question about what it is etc). Of the 118 remaining, 7 (6%) reported a limp mode while using Dinan, 11 (9%) using a JB product, 18 (15%) using an 'other' tune (such as SSTT or AA), 22 (19%) were running stock, and a whopping 60 (51%) were using one of your products. So my statement wasn't so ridiculous after all.

Regarding your limp mode comment: cross reference the limp mode analytics you suggested with the percentage of tuned cars that had Procede vs any other tune during that time, factor in the silent % of Vishnu customers that had no issues, consider that Procede was the original platform and most evolved product on the market, and finally cross reference the data once again with the current map, and realize a fraction of a percent over time had limp mode issues in your new analytics set and current Rev II users with 3.2+ have 0% limp modes.
