New tires- nice
I just wanted to thank the guys on this forum for suggesting the runflats were really the major source of "The Big Bang" on hitting small potholes, recessed manhole covers etc. They were right.
The main reason I swapped out my POS 18" runflat summer tires for Yokohama Advan S4s was snow- they are night and day difference in the snow. I was trying to get by without changing out the RFT in the CT snow but that was not smart. The side benefit of installing the Yokos was that the car rides noticeably smoother over bumps, particularly those that I know cause the big bang from driving by them every day on the way to work. No more big bangs since installing them a week ago. So far the car is behaving like a luxury sport sedan should be. I'm still amazed OEMs put these POS RFTs on new cars- it's a crime! (maybe ok on SUVs with big sidewalls but not on cars with 17 or 18" wheels). BB

I am planning on getting the Yokos Advan S4. How do you find them and how many miles have you put on them already?

I've put around 800 miles on mine thus far and if they don't change significantly with wear I'd definitely recommend them.

Very nice post. I am considering the same thing. I have an 09 Xi E90 and have the 18s with RFT performance tires. They were ok this morning as it snowed a little bit but would like to have all seasons up here for piece of mind. Once the winter some again next year.. I will opt for a full winter set.
What did you do with your summer run flats? swapping them on and off? |
