Dinan Exhaust System Regrets?
Hello Everyone,
I'm looking to possibly purchase the Dinan Exhaust System, but its an expensive upgrade for myself so I'd like to get as much feedback from people who have upgraded already to this Exhaust system. I already checked out the video clips of before and after, and was not very impressed with the sound differential. I was possibly looking for a little more aggressive. From those that have upgraded, do you have any regrets about its sound quality and whether it could be louder/more aggressive? Have many of you changed the exhaust system after installing it? I really think the exhaust system is a good bang for the buck, since it is under such good warranty. I tried to research as much as possible regarding this but didn't find much out there. Thanks in advance, Mehale |

I'm pretty happy with how mine sounds, nice V8-like burble on idle, great addicting howl when running high revs, but otherwise unobtrusive, un-obnoxious and no drone. That may not be to your liking if you want a more aggressive sound, but a more aggressive sound may not be to your liking when you are cruising and wanting to enjoy your music or carry on a conversation.

i would've liked for there to have been more 'exhaust' replaced. really the dinan exhaust is an axle-back (i.e. mufflers with a couple of inches of pipe plus tips). if you have the money to burn, as spark said it's a nice sound in person, i really like the sound now, but for how much i spent on it, i feel there should've been much more to it than mufflers and tips. so, quality and sound wise, very happy, but price wise i want more. and for $1700 it doesn't give much in the performance area either. regrets? no, not really. hope that helped some

Sooo ... didn't you just make your decision? If someone on the interwebz says they love their dinan exhaust - that would change your opinion? p.s. The only bigger waste of money is the eisanmann for $2500 bucks for section 3... LAWL! |

Just did the BMW performance exhaust and, nOOOOO regrets here. great low rumbles at low RPM's w/a very aggressive sound while under acceleration. ( http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234838 )when you reach a cruseing speed you are back to a very low rumble at best. so as not to dround out ur music or conversation. but just put ur foot on the gas and the s__t is back on. and to hear that note when ur outside under acceleration, (meaning what the others will hear as you drive away) is awesome.
so, you got my pick with your $money! lol |

Unless you are removing cats, exhaust mods are mainly about looks and sound. The OP asked about sound. The Dinan tips look good IMO but opinions may divide on the large visible mufflers. The BMW performance exhaust may be a nice option (it wasn't available when I got mine).

It isn't worth the money. If I had to do the whole thing over I wouldn't do the mufflers. It isn't worth it.

I had the Dinan exhaust on my 335 prior to getting my M3, and while I liked the sound, I really did not like the way the tips looked. The piping and the chrome finish look cheap.

Id pass on the Dinan. I removed a set from a customers car, and put an AE on for him - he was *much* happier with the AE. Sounded nicer, fit better, and the Dinan is WAY too expensive for just an axle-back.

It is cheaper to get a set of Magnaflows installed. They sell a kit for the car but I had a muffler shop put in a universal muffler and I got the same sound for less than $300 installed.

It's an awesome scheme to get you to fork over $850 for essentially a muffler and tip, twice. There is only so much a muffler alone can do for sound and performance. My magnaflow set up sounds IDENTICAL for a fraction of the cost. At least the BMW performance mufflers replace the resonator and crushed piping from the secondary cats back. I've also heard the AR cat-back and it sounds 10x better (for less). And as for warranty, I had both my turbo's replaced - with my magnaflow mufflers installed the whole time. |

Yea, I only think the flash really incorporates the warranty. Otherwise, FMIC, Oil cooler and exhaust don't really need the warranty as much that I have seen. Who knows. I think I spend a sh*t load on my car and in retrospect I might have done it different. The thing is they didn't have Dinan, Procede, and Juicebox tuned cars to test drive and decide which they want. If they did I think Vishnu would get a good amount of sales.(from what I have heard) I am still very interested in trying out a V3 at one point. If decide to redo the turbo setup than I will get a Procede.
