Tune w/o Oil Cooler?

Hey guys,

I did a short search on this topic and I couldn't find a direct answer.

Basically my question is this, my car (e92 335i 07) did not come with an oil cooler from factory, I guess the the 06 builds didn't get them, so can I run a tune without an oil cooler, or will be engine blow because of the the pressure without the ability to cool the oil?

if I cannot run a tune, what do I have to do to get an oil cooler?

Please advise...Thanks for your help!

I have the JB3 with no tune, When I really beat on the car it hits 250 degrees but nothing higher. Its not necessary but advised for sure. It is definitely in my near future

I have been running a tune with no oil cooler for two years with no problems.

doesn't mean you won't have any--but my car seems to run cool.

Your engine will not blow, just tend to overheat more.. so you really have to watch the temps like a hawk... I would say in street driving you're fine

For track, forget it.. especially if you have an AT as they heat even more.

Just because people tune their cars, doesn't mean they beat on it every single time they drive the car...Most of the time when people drive their cars even without a tune, the car is off boost..If you drive the car like its stolen, then more than likely the car will overheat more often....

Oh I know that...I'm just asking so that when I do push my car I don't want to ruin my engine and therefore not have warranty to back it up because the chip caused the problem...

if you have sport package and cry like a little girl to BMW, you *might* get them to participate into putting a retrofit oil cooler on your car....

if you dont have sport package forget it.

The car will go into limp mode before you, "ruin the engine." It won't let you ruin it, at least in the short run.

Just got my Oil Cooler retrofit installed TODAY ...I have a Sept.09, 2006 build.

...and I didn't even have to make too much of a fuss. Just call BMWNA and tell that you have complained several times to your dealer about your engine running hot and going into limp mode and that they told you to call BMWNA to open a case.

That is pretty simple...no whining involved.

I would definitely try to get the oil cooler...especially when it comes to resale.

no oil cooler not a big deal for everyday driving but you need one if you push the car hard especially on the track

My car did not have a oil cooler when I bought it. I asked the dealer where I bought from to do it for me and they did. It took a little time maybe a month or so.

Oil Cooler

Lots of threads on this, even 09's don't come with oil cooler unless you have sports package and then as I recall only with 18" tire option.
