Escort suction cups suck

Pun intended I guess.

I have my Escort hardwired up by the rearview mirror but the suction cups keep letting go.

I tried gluing the cups to the windshield (contact cement) but once the glass got warm the glue became gummy enough for the suction cups to slip and it still fell off.

Is there any better solution?

I had the same problem when I had my 8500. I just made a habit of refreshing the suction cups every month with some glass cleaner and sticking them back on again. I have to say though that my Valentine 1 mounts light years better than the Escort. The suction cups have not come off in over 1 year and there is a nice rubber pad between the detector and glass to prevent any rattling.

Anybody know of glue that will stick well to those vinyl cups?

I will definitely have to add pads to stop the rattling as soon as I get this first problem solved.

the solo 2 suction cups are a joke too - everything fell off last year and the LCD display hit my shift knob and cracked the front - Escort fixed it for $40 iirc.

Pick up a set of V1 cups, I've had no issues with mine.

I tried and they wouldn't sell them to me!

You need a V1 serial number to buy anything on their site, including $1 suction cups

While RaDaRkInG is a twit, and the V1 still looks like it has vacuum tubes inside, I can see why selling you $1 suction cups for an Escort product isn't in their business plan

I use the visor clip and it works great. My 8500 is hardwired. The plug is hidden under the visor.

So you can't put that visor down, right?

When the 8500 is not in use I can. But I don't put the visor down.
