Two versus one subwoofers in trunk
What is the advantage of having two versus one subwoofers in trunk. According to Bose, the human ear cannot determine the origin for frequencies under 100 Hz.

F!ck Bose.
As Joey said, it is to get more cone area and thus more output. I am more of a 1-driver man, since I don't go for bumping. However, I tend to go for side-firing corner-loaded subs like this: Acoustics - not Bose - say that we don't discern location of low bass notes (the exact frequency remains in dispute) - ESPECIALLY if the mid-bass notes (snares, bass guitar, etc.) are played correctly and accurately. That is why in cars, subs can be behind us without NECCESARILY ruining the stereo effect. This is also why a system in an E9x which uses the 4" door mid location, and a trunk-mounted sub, has a "hole" in it which hurts our perception of bass overall. Even if we just retain the OE underseat drivers as midbass, it helps a lot. The drivers under our butts in E9X cars are woofers, not really "sub"-woofers - those play 50 and down, technically, but "woofer" is less sexy to say. |

Put as much as yo can fit and afford, I have 2 12" subs in a ported box and I would add a third if I had the room, dont get me wrong my bass is crazy but you can never have too much... lol

Its really a matter of choice. I personally prefer the sound of 2 12" subs at a lower wattage than 1 12" at a higher wattage. I like having my bass pound, but dont want it to overpower the rest of the system. Also, by adding 2 subs, you're not getting double the amount of sound.

But it's not apples to apples on a lot of levels. I would never suggest leaving out 1 12 and getting a bigger amp. I would leave out BOTH 12" and use the money on ONE better 12'. |

I always for some reason thought systems sounded a little less "raw" with 2 subs running at medium power than one sub blasting. But then again I've heard nice systems with 1 great sub not blasting that sounds great. Its a matter of personal preference. I'd take 1 JL w7 over most other 2 12s. I dont think adding subs to the logic 7 would overpower the interiors but thats a matter of preference. Get a good sub and it can go either way. I really like amps with remote bass control that allow you to turn the amp level up from the interior. You could mount it under your seat for stealthy adjustment. |

I have the front underseat subs hooked up and bandpassed to run ~50hz and up and the sub running around 65hz and down and it sounds really really blended. |

I am going to be running one Kenwood KFC-W3009 12'' subwoofer on a Pioneer GM-5400T amplifier. What do you all think?
