According to UUC you have to lower the rear of the transmission on either the 335i or 335xi install. To do that you have to remove some cover and unhook the mid-exhaust from the downpipes and let it hang then jack/support the trans, pull the crossmember bolts out and lower the trans. This isn't a problem if you're doing it on a lift but you'd have to the jack the car pretty high (and then crawl under it...) if you tried to do it yourself lying on your back. Not something I'd want to try. If you go to my write-up DIY URL from three posts above you can see what I did to install the shifter from the interior of the car, just like one of the BMW shifters. You barely even have to get dirty compared to rolling around on the ground under the car if you want to do it yourself.

UUC is a pretty cool group of people and times are tough everywhere so I'd guess they would probably be amenable to some sort of discount or group buy. Just call them. Very reasonable guys when I spoke with them. PM if you have questions about the install.

After speaking with UUC, they do not do group buys...BUT, if I can get 10 people (or more) in for buying 10 (or more) Evo3 kits, with the DSSR (double shear selector rod), which I am told will be available for our cars in the next 2-3wks. We can get a great discounted deal on both with shipping included. Please PM me for additional information, as I don't want to go on and on in this thread, and PM's would be best. Again not sure yet if this is a go, but it is something that can be done, as I should know more in next couple of days. Thanks.

UUC is a better built system. My buddy has it on his old e36 m3 and when I tried his ride it definitely was a shorter throw and it feels like gears click into place. Compare part to party UCC is a better system
Oh and I am down for group buy as well |

I am checking with the admins about posting a group buy, well sort of, scenario? When I get permission and told where to post it, I will provide all of the info. for this. I am really excited about this opportunity to get a great deal for all of us from UUC. All of the feedback about this SSk has been great, but coupled with the DSSR, it will be even better for all of us 6mt's!

Sweet. I was gonna wait a little while for the DSSR to be released before purchasing the EVO3 kit but looks like I can get in early with a discount. I am in for group buy as well.

Yeah, the DSSR is being released in a couple of weeks, so this is great timing. The group buy is going on in the FI, Turbo are in the Sponsors Section, I hope we can get enough people to make this happen and would love to get enough to continue to get the price down.
I think when I add this SSK and DSSR I will also add the modified CDV and use the purple synchromax trans. oil. Is it better to do the mod CDV or remove it altogether? I know opinions on this vary, but are there people who have this set-up that would recommend one vs. the other (with the UUC Evo3)? Details? I think the biggest thing that hinders my car performing the way it should is me, if I can get it to shift a little shorter and less notchy, with the clutch engagemnet I think it will help tremendously. Again, it is more the driver than anything and I am not a professed expert on driving BMW 6mt cars, although I have had enough experience driving other 6mt short shift sport cars to know and understand the difference in feel and shift properties. It is kind of like the statement "help me help you" only in this case the me, is the car. |

The GB for this has been opened up for the 135 and M3 crowd as well. Hopefully this will help our cause to get to the 10 or more needed. Look in the Sponsors section under FI, Turbo, etc. for details. Thanks again.

It's very difficult to put into words exactly but if when I watch myself shift 1-2 I tend to pull with my elbow aiming towards my kidney. If I raise my elbow a little and thus straighten my arm so my forearm is more in line with the car's center console, I tend to get better shifts.
