H&R Sports + Koni Yellows vs. KW V2 Coilovers
Trying to decide which to get in terms of ride and comfort? My car is also relatively new (9k miles) so I feel like getting new shocks right away is a waste, but if I don't get the shocks now with the springs I would have to pay for installation fee TWICE. Any suggestions?

Ride comfort? The KW's will be more comfortable since they use overly soft spring rates.
Performance? In my opinion the H&R and Koni combo is better. Some will argue differently, but this is what I think, and hell, what do I know

The KWs will be the more comfortable setup of the lot. The H&Rs are on the stiffer end but I run my KW V2s daily and have not had any complaints as far as ride quality.
I also think you are right to do it all at once, no sense in paying double the installation fees by doing the two separately. |

Would it be a waste of my stock shocks (money wise) to replace it now at 9k miles? Any other opinions regarding KW V2 performance-wise? Thanks guys, really appreciate the help.

For comfort and performance, I will stick with the KW V2 all the way. They use a progressive spring for this reason, driving comfort with overall performance as well. It is not a waste to change out the suspension now, at least when you do want to change back to stock you'll have an almost brand new set of OE shocks to roll on.

Have you considered KW Street Comforts? I have them and love them. I'm guessing that they ride even better than the V2s but I can't say for sure becuase I've never ridden in a car with V2s. Personally I didn't want the ride to be any harsher than the stock sport suspension which is why I went with the SCs.

If stock suspension handling is 5/10 & V2 are 8/10...are street comforts really bad? like maybe 6/10 since they are more comfortable?
in other words..do you give up a lot of performance for comfort?

Good question - but I can only compare with stock since that's all I've experienced. That said, if stock is 5/10 the SC's feel like they went to 9/10 for me, but again, I don't know what V2s feel like. Sorry for the thread jack - just thought you might want to consider the SCs since you're interested in maintaining comfort. I can't say enough about them...

Looked up the Street comforts.. Seem more practical for teh east coast and our horrific raod conditions as well as more affordable.. Correct????

SC have stiffer spring rates and according to ORB is actually a better performer than KW V2. However, the catch is you can't drop the SC as much and maintain good performance like you can with the KW V2. But if you don't want to drop the car too much and want good performance, I heard SC is the way to go, even more so than KW V2.

I got SCs on with a 1/2" drop in front and 1/8" in the back. With 19s wrapped with Nitto Invos, the ride is MORE comfortable than the stock sport suspension with the stock 18" RFTs and the ride performance is better. Its not a huge difference, but its definitely noticeable. I took my work friends out to lunch today. They all have ridden in my car hundreds of times between the three. All three said the car ride is more comfortable now. And, no rubbing.

I'd recommend talking with one of the guys at **********s since they're authorized KW dealers. I didn't compare the price of the V2s since I wasn't interested in them, but I can tell you that Roger at **********s gave me one hell of a deal on the SCs, and what's more, these guys truly stand behind what they sell which made my Street Comforts purchase even more comfortable. Give them a call - they'll give you the details on all your options...

I have a 335xi e92, and im thinking of getting H&R sport springs, will i have to switch out my shocks or anything after having the springs on my car?? its a 2008 with 17k miles

You don't necessarily have to change out your shocks when you go with a lowering spring. However, you should note that lowering springs do place added stress on your factory shocks and struts. This will cause them to wear down faster then normal and you will have to replace them sooner then you typically would if you were to keep the car stock.

I actually think the Street Comforts are a better buy than the V2s. They are within a couple $100's in price AND have essentially same dampers. Springs, however, are much better on SCs - i.e. same or better performance as V2s AND better comfort.
