paint engine cover?
hey guys i have a 06 and my engine cover is gray instead of black like the 07's and 08s.. i was just wondering if anyone has every try painting it black?
i have a bottle of black paint and would like to try it since it's pretty much free and easy and kill some time. will the heat from the temperature mess up the paint in the long run? thanks! |

use high temp paint.
maybe post it in the marketplace and see if anyone with an 07+ wants to trade (assuming it fits on 328/335)? IMO the silver cover looks better. makes the engine stand out instead of just blackness under the hood, but to each his own.

Use flat or matte black, maybe semi-gloss. Don't go glossy.
Any other color than dark grey (gunmetal) or black will look cheesy & gaudy. IMO, the white cover in the other thread is so 'ricer' looking, almost a bit embarassing. |

Should be okay as long as you use high temp enamel. I used the VHT high temp engine paint to spray my magnesium valve cover. Came out okay and has held up to some serious heat.
