haha i asked this here too... on my post http://e90post.com/forums/showthread...&highlight=bov
i got a little more positive response but .... i think it will mess up the engine in the long run.. which would be all bad... but im pretty sure someone else will try it first... if it works then ill probably put one in too. otherwise you can always get this http://www.takakaira.co.jp/accessori...ightpager.html hahaha |

I believe Audi veh's use bypass valves (or diverter) which, instead of blowing off boost pressure to atmosphere, it just dumps it back in front of the turbo, allowing it to get reused.

audi and vw aftermarket started using HYBRID bpv/bov so you get the noise like all the hot rodding evo's and STi's.
i think it's annoying after awhile, heck if you put an intake on the 335 you'll be able to hear the bpv "sneeze" when you let off throttle. |

It is going to be really funny when everyone has a bov on their 335. I am sure that all of the evo drivers will be pretty confused for a minute or two. lol

FWIW, the 335i doesn't have a MAF senor. It uses MAP sensors instead. One in the intake manifold and one just before the throttle body in the IC charge pipe.

yup, if it uses maf sensors, it will basically expect air to get back into the intake from a dv. However, a BOV is atmospheric so thus no air goes back into the intake causing a loss of power because the engine expected more air than what is really there. With a MAP, you can run a BOV safely and what not. The hybrid ones you mention is both recirc and atomospheric. Until high loads (more PSI) it shoots into atmos and under low load, it shoots into the intake. Btw, what you said about the STi BOV sounding like shit is all subjective. It's the brand of the BOV that makes the unique sound not the car.

Used a MAF sensor and had no problems whatsoever, no stalling, rough idling, no afterburn / backfire between shifts, etc. I would be suprised if the 335i doesnt have some sort of turbo protection for surges. But then again its wastegate is unlike what i've seen before - perhaps it accomplishes that in itself. |
