Dinan always takes care of their customers and works with BMW to resolve the problem. I have seen instances where a person had alot of other mods on the car along with Dinan software and in that case only the software is covered the other stuff is not and 99% of the time the other mods were the root of the problem, but those situtations had nothing to do with HPFP.
Are you working for Dinan? Or did the other here in the Forum just have bad luck?

I run an independent shop in GA and we are one of the largest Dinan Dealers in the US.

You guys need to get your facts straight, I just spoke with Steve Dinan and he said that for a fact his software has nothing to do with the issues of the failing HPFP's. He has been in contact with the customers that have this issue and have his software and it was only a select few the rest of the people with this issue are not running his software or they have other aftermarket parts on the car in which he does NOT cover. In fact if you check BMW just extended the warranty on all of the HPFP's for 100K miles! The HPFP problem lies with BMW NOT DINAN!

Yeah good luck! You'll have to have a hell of a lot of self control not to want to have the powerrrrrrrr there all the time!

How new is the car and how important is Dinan covering the warranty? Those are questions each driver has to answer himself.

My car is 8 months old and has 10,000 km (6,000 miles) on it so I went with the Dinan stage 2 flash update yesterday. My 40th Birthday present to myself. I've only had 30 minutes in the car, driving home from my dealership, but I really like it.

It is so smooth, the throttle response linear like my old 330......but much faster. At first I wasn't too impressed, I expected more oomph. I accelerated onto the highway and I realized I was going 145 kmh in an 80 zone (90 mph in a 50 zone) and that I was in third gear not second. It feels like I am one gear lower than I am. No, it isn't the fire-breathing V8 from an M3, but the 335 is 20-30k less, even after the Dinan flash, and I am still covered by a warranty and don't have to hide anything from my BMW stealership.

you really shouldnt call the M3's V8 firebreathing......a tuned n54 has much more power under the curve...much more. Only the the V8 has is a longer power curve and a GLORIOUS sound w/ the right exhaust. It has been proven time and time again that a well tuned n54 will pull a M3 no problem.

I would personally call the M3's V8 limp dicked until at least 5,000rpms. But maybe thats just me. No TQ ftl.

Of course you can throw some F/I on the V8 and then I would call it fire breathing

It's no hidden fact I'm a Dinan fan simply because the stuff works and is reliable. It will cost way more for what appears to be less but piece of mind is a lot for some people like me. I've had warranty work on previous cars with Dinan mods and no problem, my first on the 335 will be soon as I am getting consistent long cranks. One other point is if you wanted to get the extended warranty IE CPO the car for resell or whatever BMW will not do that with a Dinan flash last I heard. I would not be afraid to go either route you mentioned, both are great products, from reputable tuners, same with the other not mentioned by you but by others. Really you need to decide what is most important to you, overall power and value or the piece of mind of no issues period.

Honestly, what is $2,000 dollars when you bought a $50,000 car? Some of the posters on this board are the cheapest BMW owners in the world. I don't know if I would want a $300 piggyback mod for my $50k dollar car. It makes no sense. If I had a used civic than price is a concern a little more.

while I agree with you, you need to keep in mind that many on here can barely afford the leases they have gotten themselves into, so to them, 300 vs 900 is a huge difference. for those people, I would suggest no mods as they cant anti up if something goes wrong.

Well its about market competition, one you get what you pay for secondly, Dinans prices are high it does come with added value. It just depends what your goals are and what you want ultimatly want. One thing i would like to know is if any n54 has blown up because of a piggyback, flash? Of course when using the proper map not blown up from stupidity. i.e. A person running 91 octane runs a 100 octane map and it fries the piston rings - stupidity. But has any of the piggys or flashes caused an actual motor to seize?

That V8 can be tuned to produce reliable and consistent power. We've all become torque junkies (myself included), but once you learn how to drive the V8 it's a great motor.

OP, I'd skip Dinan and any piggy. There will be a few other options soon enough.

I've heard of Dinan and BMW having problems now...

My sem-local dealer that did a dinan reflash and would span the payments across your term has recently stopped because there have been issues with the turbos and whatnot... BMW not covering them and Dinan taking a month or 2 to reimburse people their money

Like how Dinan wouldn't cover the need for a loaner (and the dealer wouldn't provide one since BMW warranty wasn't being used etc)

Since you're an attorney, and can spend the money, get the Dinan Stage 3 with the intercooler exhaust etc
should run you about 6k give or take but you'll be with if not beat jb/procede etc with more safety in mind (cause any other tune you're out cold, waiting or arguing is better than having absolutely no ground on which you could argue on [if that made sense lol)
