Why do you need one? It will make your shifting harder to do. You will have to apply more force to shift....

I wonder what the differences are between the shifters of the E90 and E92.

Shift kit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Shift kit is an aftermarket component for automobles. for manual transmission equipped cars, it's a component that replaces the stock gear selecter, shifter. What it does usually is shortens the throws of selecting a gear also known as a short throw shifter, therefore allowing a driver to change gears faster and more efficiently.

I think Long istalled one in his e92. I am going to but waitng for aftermarket ones.

I don;t know if there are short shift kits, but will the sport knob that fots the 330 fit the 335? I haven't looked at the 335 shift boot in detail to know if it's the same size/shape as the 330/325. I have the sport knob installed and it makes a noticeable difference from stock.

You shouldn't worry about that. Short shifters are counter balanced which are designed to ease efforts.

Long throw

I know when I finally pull the trigger, I'll be interested in a short shifter. That things looks loooong.

I had a short throw shifter that cut throw by 40% in my last car and it was a breeze to shift after that thing was installed, speed shifting was not a problem.
