335i STILL on order. Is dealer pulling my chain?
Hello all. My first post. Being a Lexus owner in the last 10 years (SC400, RX300, ES300, GS400), I finally ended the streak and ordered a 335i coupe (My first BMW). Where have I been?!?!?! I was sold after only 2 minutes behind the wheel of my test drive. My one complaint with Lexus (Some would prefer this) is it feels like the car is on auto pilot.
The 335i is a beast. I haven't had this much fun behind a wheel since my grease monkey days (1987 Buick Grand National). A piece of crap, but a turbo charged beast as well! Anyway, to the point. I ordered my BMW on November 4. Here is the list: 335i Coupe Crimson Red Dakota Leather Light Poplar Wood Trim Sport Package Automatic Paddle Shifters Navigation Heated Seats My dealer (Teaneck, NJ) originally told me that the dealership wasn’t allotted any more 335i’s and the time I had to wait was 16 weeks!!! HOWEVER, he said they were able to get a car through another dealer, and I will get it in 6-8 weeks. Did anyone ever hear of this? So I got my order # on November 7. The owner’s circle website showed a completely different model, but finally got the right specs by November 10. The dealer tells me the longest part of the process is transport (Usually 2-3 weeks). But here’s the problem. It’s November 22, and my car is STILL “On Order”. I even called the 800 number and the recording says it’s scheduled for production but no date yet. So with already almost 3 weeks gone, is it safe to say I’m getting the car 3-5 weeks from now, or is the dealer pulling my chain? |

best to 1) call the 1-800 number and speak with a live rep, 2) pester your CA for a printout off his DCS system.

Waiting is the hardest part
I ordered on Oct 6th, dealer ordered on the 12th, didn't change to scheduled for production for 4 weeks, and now it is on the boat heading this way. Try the 800 number, it tends to be a few days ahead of the website in terms of info, although it won't get it to you any faster, but at least you'll feel like progress is being made. As far as what they told you about getting it from another dealer, basically they bought or traded their production allotment from the other dealer. Once it changes to scheduled for production only use the 800 number for updates, the web still shows my car as awaiting transport and it is on a boat that left 2 days ago. It goes pretty fast after they start production. I too was told 6-8 weeks, at this point it should be 9 weeks from the dealer order day. That seems to be around the same time as most, except for the early 335 order'ers who knew they were going to have to wait until sept to get cars. I am right there with you, the waiting is killer! Good Luck.
