Power Seats With Sports Package?
Hi,
I am planning on ordering a jet black 335i in the next day or so. I've finally made the decision to go with black leatherette (less maintenance) as I plan to buy and keep the car for many years. Consequently I will be ordering the sports package (w/ paddles) but not the entire Premium package (just the BMW Assist/BT option). Does anyone know if the sports seats that come with the sports package are power adjusted or manually adjusted? Thanks for your help and I look forward to join the BMW ranks in the near future! |

Don't let "less maintnenace" be the reason you don't get leather! Are you joking? Quality leather can last 8-10 years easy. Take it to a detail shop once a year and get the seats conditioned, or just wipe it on and off yourself.
leatherette is cheap and lame and doesn't belong in a nice car. Oh, and your in Atlanta. Have fun sticking to your seats. Quote:

Now, for the OP. 9 out of 10 people that get into a BMW with leatherette seats don't even recognize that they're not leather. While I agree with ParaDiddle that leather is a better choice, the downside is it will wear a little faster, even if properly conditioned. For example you don't see the leatherette seats wrinkle like leather does after a year or two. Without a doubt, in heat and humidity leatherette is stickier. But if someone is on a particular budget, and they have to choose between the premium package or another group of options that they feel they would like better, then staying with the leatherette is a viable approach.

Thanks!
I appreciate your feedback on the leather/leatherette decision. Good information!
If leatherette is much stickier then I may need to reconsider. Initially looking at the leather/leatherette in black I could not tell much of a difference between the look of the two (except stitching). The low maintenance and longer lasting aspects of leatherette seemed to give the 'ette an edge to me. However I have not lived with 'ette before so I was not aware of the sticky aspect. Thanks for feedback and valuable input! |
