Wash and wax method
Okay...I did some searching and could not find what I was looking for. I am pretty sure it is some where in this forum but, after looking for 20 minutes I decided to post.
When washing use a grout sponge right? Hood/Trunk and top of car with horizontal wipe motions? Sides of car with vertical wipe motions? When applying wax foam applicator with slight dampness from QD right? Hood/Trunk and top of car with horizontal wiple motion to apply wax? Sides of car with vertical wipe wipe motion to apply wax? When removing wax MF towel with same motions for waxing right? I am pretty sure this is what I see most feel is correct but, I wanted to get this all in one post for the record! Thanks all! I did my car last week which took 8 hours...I like to take breaks. I need to wax it again..or those spots that I did not get a chance...so, wanted to be sure I got it right! Thanks! ![]()

Sounding pretty good.
![]() What you use to wash is your choice - some prefer the sheepskin mitts, some like the sponges. I get the Proline ones from Lowes personally since they're cheap and do a good job. Since they're like a buck a piece, I only use them for maybe 6 washes each before demoting them to wheel duty. I also use 2 sponges, one for the lower/dirtier parts of the car (bumpers, low side panels) and another for the rest of the paint. You're correct with the motions - these go for washing, waxing, etc to avoid swirls as much as possible. You generally don't need to use any QD on your pad while waxing. A hard wax (like Natty's) recommends you just dampen it very slightly with water to get going, then it's fine. I suppose QD can't hurt though.
