Porsche's PDK vs 6 MT
Hey guys!
First of all, I want to say that I really think this forum is AMAZING. The quality of the comments and people is insane. I have been following it for a week, and decided to finally join it! I am a big fan of the 1, but unfortunately, I can't change car right now because of school (argggg). Anyways, My Dad is presently looking to buy a 911 S. Anyone of you guys tried the PDK? He went to try it this morning, but isn't too confident about it. He thinks the way it feels isn't proper. What do you guys think? On a long term scale and so on. Thanks again and keep brining those amazing 1 pictures ![]() |

Can't go wrong with MT/Porsche. Having said that the PDK is supposed to be amazing.
I have not tried it but a guy I know works for Porsche here in Dallas. He gets to drive just about anything he wants. He was a skeptic but now says it is incredible. Heavy traffic/likes to do from stand still WOT launches ...lean PDK. In the end I would probably go old school MT. I think the PDK is around $1,800 US. Could be 2800...can't remember. If he is going to spend that kind of money they should have demos for him to keep a day or two with each transmission. |

the PDK is incredible...however...it simply cannot compare to the interaction between the car and driver with a manual transmission. if he is a manual guy...he will probably end up going that route, however if he is more of an auto guy...the PDK is just awesome!

Alright! Thanks for your comments !
He is a manual guy. Plus here in Canada, the PDK is 5.5k (fricking Porsche Options) and the Ceramic 11k :|. And noob question, whats a wheel spacer? Thanks! |

With Porsche I think it is an 3mm or 5mm. It is a round metal device that goes between the hub and the wheel.
It pushes the wheel out to give a more flush to fender set up. |

Debatable. I put them on my old 335, rears only. Some cars need them some don't..looks wise. Porsche is fine OEM to me.
Someone can maybe chime in on the true benefit of spacers. |

Gives a wider rear track (you can also put on wider tires and wheels), which can be good for traction, but in a car that low and specifically for road use, not worth it IMHO.

The PDK input system is GODAWFUL. I love how solid it feels, but it's horrifically unintuitive in terms of layout.

The biggest clue should be the fact that the PDK isn't offered in either the GT2 or GT3....
![]() MT all the way!
