Obviously you need the steering wheel with the paddles - the expensive part in that equation is the air bag, since the sport wheel has a different airbag. New your looking at about 700, but should be able to pick something up used for a lot less. Once you have the wheel with the paddle shifters, check out www.burgertuning.com they sell the adapter harness to make the paddles work and have all the info on how to do it.

Good Luck!

Hmmmm ...... my airbag from the OEM sport wheel transferred to the M3 wheel without a hitch. Are there design differences with the bracket making it not interchangeable?

I am currently working on doing this...

Paddles - 500-650 (std vs DCT)
Sport Steering Wheel - 300
Airbag - 700
Berger Harness 250

And several hours of your time. (I imagine BMW install would be in the ballpark of 400 if they even did it at all.)

I am selling a sport wheel and paddle shifters here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266638
That may help lower your cost. The install is not a difficult DIY.

The Sports Airbags do Transfer... but the BASE to sport, No go.

I also forgot to mention the Multi Function Buttons, Add in $80 for it.

Pretty scarry when you think the option for Paddle with ZSP was only $100

Could you order the paddle shift without the ZSP? I dont believe that was possible. Otherwise it was quite a bit more than $100 as the ZSP was required (~$2K).

Things have now changed as the paddle is not really an option anymore. The ZSP + steptronic automatically includes the paddles.

Well you have to buy the $1,450 sport package too to get the paddle shift option for $100

I tried to get paddle shift installed by the dealer and they laughed at me. I called around for months. It is way cheaper to do it myself. Look for the steering wheels on ebay.

I did it and it didn't cost very much at all.

paddles are ovverrated. They are cumbersome and NOT like the ones on an M Car. Thast why I chose a 6M over the auto with paddles.

Cumbersome to those that don't have any use for them....I have a 6AT car and love my paddles...use them very often. Ofcourse the shifts aren't as crisp in a DCT car...they are pretty fast....I'd say less than .5secs for a shift isn't bad...

Also, paddles are useful if you're driving with one hand on the wheel and in M mode (ofcourse this defeats the purpose of an automatic...but hey, who's asking?)
