The PC7424XP is a great choice. It's very flexible, and probably the most user friendly machine available.
Do homework before using it on a car you care about. Know the techniques, products, and most importantly: preparation. Prep work is key to a great polish. DetailedImage's detailing guide is a good place to start. There are many techniques, products, and opinions out there though - http://www.detailedimage.com/Auto-Detailing-Guide/. You may also want to find a junk body panel to practice on. It will give you a feel for the machine.
