Steering wheel care

What products to people use to care for their steering wheels? I use Meguiar's leather cleaner and conditioner for my seats and leather door trim., but I'm worried about using this on the steering wheel as it might make make it too slick and rather unsafe...

I use Zaino Z9 cleaner and Z10 conditioner. I haven't used Meguiar's but I like Zaino because it doesn't make the leather shiny like others, and the smell...

There's a great thread on this at Autopia. Just came across it the other day.

great thread...lots of ideas!
now which one works best

1. Ordinary liquid dishwash soap diluted with warm water in a spray bottle.
2. Horse hair brush for scrubbing
3. Compressed air or shop vac to remove excess water, especially around switches in the wheel.

worth a try?

Haven't tried anything from that thread yet myself. I usually wipe down the steering wheel with a damp MF each time I wash the car, just to remove the oils. Seems to be working fine so far - no wear spots or shine.

If you have access to a steam cleaner it's amazing what it can do. Here is a wheel and seat from a CLK I did last week.

Wow that looks good. You just steam it and wipe off?

With the steam slight agitation is needed as well. Then the grime and dirt can simply be wiped off.
