SSTT Issue

alright before anyone says anything, I DID search...

I've had my SSTT for over a year now and it worked perfectly.. I took it out (about four months ago because of an issue that happened, which you will read about below) and then reinstalled it again about 3 months later.. I drove my car with SSTT reinstalled for a month and all was going well, I cud feel the power gain etc etc.. One morning I turn my car on and it turned on very weak, making weird noises, shaking, and a buncha dash lights came on - limp mode, and Service Engine Soon.. I turned it back off then back on and drove immediately and it ran fine, still with the SERVICE light on but not limp mode... It behaved the same way after multiple cold starts for the next few days.. I double checked the SSTT, it was plugged in fine and tight and no obvious problems.. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED; THE FIRST TIME LEAD ME TO REMOVE THE SSTT 4 MONTHS AGO....
I took the SSTT out again and it started running fine again, the SERIVCE light turned off after a day or two of driving.. it has been over a week, running great and the SSTT is still unplugged..

WHAT should I do about this? I don't want to plug it back in and go through this all over again.. When the errors happen, the car seriously feels like its gonna blow up or just fall apart and die.... The wires are not loose on the chip itself, and it was plugged in tight when i double checked it..

Anyone experience this? I searched and found that others had to tighten their SSTT when the car threw codes.. or had other issues like random limp modes while driving... what if my actual SSTT chip is malfunctioning?

hey the only way to figure this out is buy at bt scanner, or find a local shop person with a gt1. too scan your codes.

I'm one of the few other SSTT users here and I haven't had a problem. But I've only had mine installed for 6 months. Have you contacted Split Second about the issue? Perhaps they can check the thing for problems for the cost of shipping. If you're gutsy, you might take the car into BMW for service and tell them its been running rough. It might be something totally unrelated to the SSTT, but triggered by the increased boost. There is always the JB+...
