Help with iPhone unlock/questions
Greetings,
I know cars, but I don't know sh!t about iPhones...I searched around an read many pages on the iPhone, blackra1n, redsnow, etc., but still am not sure of a few things. I recently got an iPhone via my employer and they restricted/locked the apps installer and a few other things. Therefore, I can't even install ANY apps, even free ones! SUX! WTF good is an iPhone with no apps?? I plan to dl my own apps via teather and not over the air, so it aint like my employer will incur any expenses. The only thing I REALLY want to do is to be able to install apps on the damn phone. Everything else can stay the same. Apparently, when they "programed" the phone, they installed restrictions which I have no idea how to override. Is there a "simpler" way to override the restrictions? I would rather do "the least" I can to get the restrictions removed. I don't need to be able to set it to another network, etc, etc. Just want to override the restrictions. Help!! I have read about blackra1n, etc. but I still am curious about a few things. I don't know if I even need to go "that far". I am a bit worried I will F up the phone due to my lack of knowledge! Any help appreciated! So, if I must use blackra1n or similar: If I install blackra1n (or some other program?), will it override the restrictions my employer placed on the phone? Can I "undo" anything done by blackra1n (or other) so that IF my employer wants the phone back or needs to tweak it for some reason, I don't get busted? lol Can I still install apps found on iTunes, or MUST I go through Cydia, etc.? Sorry for the total newb questions, but I am a total newb with a lot of tech related stuff. lol If you know how to "crack" the phone so I can override the restrictions, please let me know!! Any help/education is appreciated!

Are the restrictions just on the app store on the phone? What would stop you from downloading the apps via your iTunes and then just syncing the phone.
Jailbreaking will allow you to download apps from a 3rd party site such as www.Appulo.us If you do jailbreak the phone and you want to go back to the factory settings all you have to do is a restore via iTunes and I'm almost positive that they wouldn't be able to tell you did anything. (someone may want to confirm this) |

If I go into General>Restrictions, it is all "greyed out". At the bottom it says "Restrictions are currently set by a configuration profile and cannot be changed". If I log into iTunes via the phone, all I can do is access my account info...no store. The apps installed is off, and via the restrictions, I cannot enable it. Does that help? edit: found this tidbit of info. Look slike I am screwed! lol http://www.docstoc.com/docs/10023086...urity-Overview
