Have a heart. This cat abviously is very sick, probably being eaten alive by fleas... Good karma if you help him...we are such supreme beings, driving high end cars packed with technology, but not able to help a less fortunate one...one poor cat that doesn't have a home, doesn't have a family...this cat has to husstle to get food every night and find warm shelter, in latter it happens to be your bimmer. Apparently, this homeless hustler loves BMW too, so he is one of us...he is just sick and needs a little help from a stronger friend, but he still is a good cat...in return, he can help you rid of rodens...cats and dogs have been by our side as loyal companions for thousands of years, even worshiped in ancient Egipt...and just maybe there is a reason this poor sick cat found comfort on hood of your beautiful bimmer...and it's not a coincidence you posted this story here, and its definitely something we all read it and respond in anyway we can...let's make this story a good one, let's do something to help this cat-bimmer fan...maybe, by taking shelter on hood of BMW, enjoying last of heat from that state of the art powerful engine, dreaming of adventures...maybe its the best thing that ever happen to this cat?

i like this guy!!

animals are put into their positions by humans..

reminds me of something that happened to my dad.
who was a Gruff, old -school, tough guy city cop. Hees sitting in his car at 5am getting ready for duty. shortly before he rolls out, the most dirty, sickly, disease ridden, nasty ass young cat (one eye swolen/ buggered out) barley walking no tail movement, anyway it heads to my dad who offers it some of his snack but wont eat, it just sniffed his hand. and made some kind of quiet squeek noise. he picked it up (gloves on) to put in a box to go to 24 hr shelter but died just after he picked it up..:\
ill never forget that story and my dad is not exactly "fond" of animals but said he just "felt" something with this older kitten/ young cat.. that he should help..
you never know when you are beiing truly tested//

Call animal control. In the mean time, put out an electric blanket. This cat's gonna go to the easiest warm place it can get, which will not involve climbing if it can be helped.

I should have seen a polarized discussion coming. Harking back to the original issue, I used a clay bar and got the rest of the junk off of the hood, then waxed. Good as new. I just need to find time to give the rest of the car the same love!! Will call shelter tomorrow... too busy today. That bastard will probably sleep on the hood again tonight though. A hav-a-heart trap is next on the list if animal control fails.

Oh, and I like the electric blanket suggestion. May have to try that.

Capture the cat, take it to the vet, spend $500 on it, and the animal will be your best friend for life.

Moth balls will act as a deterrent until animal control arrives. Put them in a jar and poke some holes in the top and place it around your car. They're toxic so you should keep them contained.

I don't really see hostility, just a matter of car > stray cat. I see what you mean though. Cats kind of look down on people. Dogs are more loyal as buddies.

by hostility im referring to the way guys usually feel the need to use violence and death and it seems to be MAINLY with cats vs. other 4 legged friends loyal buddies or not who knows...

Aside from Lions, most cat's are solitary predators. Dog's on the other hand can only really flourish by hunting in packs. Humans are pack animals so dogs are a more natural fit.

IF the guy had a DOG sleeping on his hood at night, you can bet there would be an equal amount of violent ideas for it's permanent removal!

Best regards,

OP: Bring out a saucer of milk and put it on your neighbor's car. If that doesn't work, wax your car 150 times so the cat just slides off.
